    TNT Express gets a new MD in PL Venkateswaran

    Venkateswaran’s mandate is to accelerate the growth of the international express and healthcare businesses.

    TNT Express, the logistics company, has named P L Venkateswaran as the managing director for its India operations.

    Prior to this, Venkat, as he is popularly known, was the finance director for East Asia. He was based out of TNT’s Singapore office where he was responsible for managing all areas of finance, working capital, legal and business control functions for the operating unit.

    His immediate mandate is to accelerate the growth of the international express and healthcare businesses in addition to driving the strategic initiatives for the company.

    In an official communique, Venkat says, “Intra-Asia traffic is experiencing rapid growth and TNT will help our customers keep abreast of these changes and ensure that their needs are met.”

    Venkat’s career spans over 24 years, out of which, 14 years have been in the express logistics industry.

    Having joined TNT in 2001, he has since then held several senior finance positions in India and Asia. He has also been a key member of the senior management team, driving strong financial performances in the region.

    Prior to joining TNT, he worked with ICI for ten years and also PepsiCo in India.

    Venkat is a qualified chartered accountant and has done his postgraduation in management from the Warwick Business School.
