edX.org, is an open-source online learning platform founded by Harvard and MIT.
Tech Mahindra wants to reskill its 117,000 employees in internet of things (IoT), cyber security, virtual reality (VR), machine learning, big data, and analytics It has joined hands with edX.org, the global non-profit, open-source learning destination founded by Harvard and MIT. The Company hopes to enable the development and growth through world class programmes offered by leading universities.
Tech Mahindra has worked out special schemes for its employees, where they can self-fund the certifications at discounted rates to be reimbursed on successful completion of the course. The edX platform leverages the years of classroom learning experience of best universities in the world with neuroscience, to deliver an active learning experience and hold the learners’ interest while learning online.
However, this partnership with edX.org is not limited to just training of Tech Mahindra employees. The IT company will also offer opportunities to pre-identified learners enrolled in an edX MicroMasters programme. Tech Mahindra will assure a job interview with the company to anyone who completes these programmes and meets the minimum criteria of education and work experience.

The MicroMasters programmes are an in-depth and rigorous series of courses, with a path to credit from prestigious universities.
edX.org also has a similar arrangement with GE, but with an Indian IT company, this is the first one.
