    2% fall in hiring demand for entry-level job seekers in May 2024

    Demand for people with no experience or up to three years of experience has dropped as per the foundit report for May 2024

    The hiring demand for entry-level job seekers has come down. As per the foundit report for May 2024, there has been a drop of two per cent in the demand for job seekers with 0 to three years of experience as compared to April 2024. A two per cent growth in demand was seen in associate roles, that is, people with four to six years of experience in May 2024 as compared to April 2024.

    There has been muted hiring for mid-senior level roles, that is those with 7 to 10 years of experience. Senior roles with 11 to 15 years of experience saw a very marginal rise in hiring. The demand for those with 16 or more years of experience fell by two per cent in May as compared to April 2024.

    Roles in the hospitality and travel space saw a 23 per cent annual growth, with demand surging in hotels and airports. There is also a focus on sustainable development in this sector. Demand for arts/creative professionals, such as graphic designers and animators has also seen a surge.

    There was 11 per cent growth in hiring for software, hardware and telecom professionals in May 2024. In the past one month, the metros have shown strong growth in skill-based hiring.

    The hospitality and travel space has seen 23 per cent year-on-year growth, while there has been a 16 per cent growth in hiring in the marketing and communications space in May 2024, as compared to May 2023. In the healthcare space, the hiring demand has grown 11 per cent compared to May 2023.

    A growth of 11 per cent in hiring demand has been witnessed in the software, hardware and telecome space in May 2024, compared to May 2023.

    Five per cent hiring demand growth has taken place in the engineering and production space, while the legal sector has witnessed three per cent growth in hiring demand year-on-year.

    Hiring demand in the HR and admin area has been one per cent less than last year, while in the purchase,logistics and supply chain space, it has been three per cent less than last year. Hiring demand has been three per cent less in finance and accounts, seven per cent less in sales /business development and 25 per cent less in customer service.

    The data comes from foundit Insights Tracker (fit)—a comprehensive monthly analysis of online job posting activity conducted by foundit.in.
