Tech giant, Apple has worked out a plan to call its employees back to offices after 18 months of working from home. Tim Cook, CEO, Apple, informed the staff via a mail that the a hybrid work model will come into effect starting February 2022.
The Company initially had planned to end the extended WFH scenario by September of 2021, but the pandemic’s increasing intensity in the US forced it to postpone its plans of reopening the office doors.
Cook has said that, with the new plan, the Company would only require its employees to work from the physical offices for a day or two per week for the initial four weeks. After this transitional period, the hybrid policy will be fully implemented, with eligible teams reporting to offices for three days a week — Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. On Wednesdays and Fridays, there will be full remote operation.
This arrange will be a part of the phased implementation of the model that the Company intends to adopt. It is reported that the Company would try to implement the model across as many locations around the world as possible.
Apple will not hesitate to consider local conditions before implementing its plans. The new policy will be subject to change according to the local situations and circumstances with regard to the pandemic.
In the mail, Cook admits that the pandemic had taught everybody a great deal about flexible work, while at the same time reminded everyone that the value of in-person collaboration cannot be replaced.
