Carolina Granat, who is currently ABB’s global head of people development, will soon step into the shoes of Sylvia Hill, taking charge as the CHRO and member of the executive committee of the Swedish-Swiss multination, from January 1, 2021.

In her new position, she will play a transformative role in the HR activities at ABB using her expertise in change management, talent development, operational efficiency and recruitment to create a diverse and passionate global team. She is known for her ability to lead global HR functions in a decentralised organisation.

Granat has a master’s degree in human resources management from the Karlstads Universitet. Before joining ABB in September 2020, she spent a total of nine years at Sandvik Machining Solutions. Initially as a talent manager, before finally becoming the vice president of human resources.

She also spent seven years as the HR business partner, R&D, at Sandvik Coromant. From 1998 to 2004, she worked as the HR manager (Nordic region) for The Boston Consulting Group, where she was responsible for the HR organisation in the Nordic region, as well as the staffing process of consultant resources to client projects.

ABB, formerly ASEA Brown Boveri, with its headquarters in Zürich, Switzerland, operates in the areas of robotics, power, heavy electrical equipment, and automation technology. It has about 110,000 employees across 100 countries.
