Walmart organises hiring event to take on thousands in supply chain

In the month of September, Walmart announced it would be hiring 20,000 permanent associates in its supply chain business to fulfil the surge in demand in the retail business. To achieve that goal, the Company organised a hiring event on November 3 and 4 in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. This hiring event allowed people to log in to Walmart’s hiring event page and schedule an interview in the preferred time slot for the role they found they were eligible for.

The Company is looking to hire for multiple roles at its supply chain sites across the United States. The roles include that of lift drivers, order fillers, shipping loaders, power-equipment operators, diesel technicians and drivers.

Based on the role and shift, candidates will be hired on a $20.37 hourly wage with all benefits associated with a full-time employee at Walmart, such as vision and dental insurance, paid time off, a quarterly incentive programme and access to a college degree through Walmart’s Live Better U (LBU). This year, the Company has added more universities and full-time courses for its employees at the shop floor, to facilitate their higher education.

To prioritise the health and wellness of Walmart associates and their families, Walmart’s medical coverage plans start at $30.50 per pay period – approximately one-third less than the average premium employees pay at other companies. In addition, the retailer offers maternity and paternity benefits, emotional well-being benefits, healthcare tailored to the LBGTQ+ community and veteran and military spouse support.
