After seven years of working at Amazon, an employee was fired when he posted a TikTok video where he expressed his disgruntlement at having to lift heavy boxes. He then appears to make fun of the situation on finding that the boxes contained water.
The said employee posted a video in the first week of December revealing that he performed an additional shift as a picker at the warehouse. It is pertinent to mention here that the employee, Kendall, has more than 35,000 followers on TikTok.
After being fired, he posted on TikTok that he had lost his job because he had tried to tell people not to buy heavy items from Amazon because he, as an Amazon warehouse worker, was exhausted lifting heavy boxes.
Later, after his termination, Kendall again took to TikTok to reveal that he had been fired. He wondered why the clip, which was enjoyed by most and considered to be humorous, could be offensive in any way. According to him, it was quite clear that the video was made in jest and the overexaggeration was just for fun.
He apologised to those who found the video offensive saying that he did not intend to upset anyone. He goes on to seek forgiveness saying that he had only tried to make a funny video and had already paid a heavy price for it by losing a job that he had for seven years.
His video showed him working an extra shift lifting boxes at the warehouse and finding most of them to contain dog food or Fiji water. He had jokingly asked people to stop purchasing water on Amazon and walk to a store nearby instead and pick it up themselves. He also joked about why people would want to wait for a couple of days to get their water when they could stop being lazy and buy it immediately from a store.
