Indian multinational informational technology company, Wipro, will soon be offering about 200 jobs in the Richmond area, where it has now set up an engineering and innovation centre. Spread over 10,000 square feet, the unit will be dedicated to generating full-stack engineering solutions and will concentrate on user experience, cloud, digital and so on.

The new facility will take Wipro a step forward on the path to blending business agility and innovation, which hold the key to success in this era of digitalisation.

Wipro is recruiting graduates from various local institutions, including Virginia Tech, Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Virginia, and University of Richmond.

It also plans to collaborate with local startups to share knowledge and expertise so that large and small businesses can benefit from the exchange. Wipro is keen to share its training, expertise and technologies with academicians, community leaders and policy makers. Wipro plans to organise customised visits, as well as workshops on design thinking and innovation along with projects characterised by collaboration across different industries.

The Company already has a 500 strong workforce across Virgina, US, of which most of the employees are located in the Richmond area.

Not long ago, Wipro had launched the Pivotal Software Centre of Excellence in Dallas and the Digital and Technology Centre in Minneapolis.

Quite recently, Wipro successfully acquired US-based International TechneGroup Inc. (ITI) for $45 million, that is, approx. ?318 crore.
