Peak IX Consulting, a new leadership advisory, launched ‘BeLithe Transformation’, a unique wilderness-based leadership programme for corporate leaders. The programme uses outdoor experiences to improve collaboration, self-awareness, and decision-making in challenging environments.
Sayantani De, co-founder, points to the rising need for stronger leadership, citing research showing 80 per cent of Indian firms face leadership shortages and half of employees perceive poor leadership skills. She argues traditional methods are insufficient, necessitating wilderness-based approaches.
Co-founder Diganta Biswas highlights the benefits of wilderness experiences, drawing upon research that connects such experiences to developing leadership qualities like planning, risk assessment, and fast decision-making in unpredictable situations. These skills are crucial for navigating rapidly evolving business environments. BeLithe focuses on fostering Adaptability, Cognition, and Tolerance for the Unknown (ACT) – key qualities for future leaders.
To celebrate International Women’s Day and advocate for inclusion, Peak IX is organizing an all-woman climb of Pangarchulla peak, led by a female mountaineer. While women’s participation in mountaineering is increasing, female leadership in the field remains low. Similar to the corporate world, where women make up 27 per cent of the IT workforce but only 8.3 per cent of key management personnel, Peak IX calls for comprehensive policies promoting inclusive work environments.
