AI Engineering Services staff call off strike planned for today

Thanks to the technicians of AI Engineering Services calling off a strike that they had earlier called for today, that is, 23 April, 2024, airports across the country have managed to steer clear of a lot of chaos and disruption.

AI Engineering Services is a company that offers its services to Air India, with its technicians being responsible for the repair and maintenance of Air India’s fleet. The employees of the company have been wanting their pay to be revised in addition to better opportunities for developing their careers. Some of these employees have not received a promotion in seven years. Also, despite the employees who had completed two years of service being assured of a pay structure revision, the management had failed to keep its promise. The contractual employees were unhappy too because they form the majority of the workforce and yet, they had to serve longer notices periods. These contract employees were also upset because they received lesser benefits than their regular or permanent counterparts.

Therefore, the disappointed employees had decided to go on a strike.

Fortunately, the management has given its approval to some of their demands, leading them to call off the strike. They have been told that their pay will be revised by the end of April 2024. The employees have also been promised opportunities for career progression/promotions by the end of next month, that is, 31 May. A formal letter has been issued to this effect by the CHRO of AI Engineering Services, as reported by Bloomberg. The new measures will reportedly hold for four years.
