The Government is expected to increase the duty allowance of Class 4 Indian Railways employees by three times. According to reports, the move has been made considering the risks involved in performing duties. There have been cases of attacks on gatemen and other employees on duty, considering which their allowance will now be increased from Rs 1000 to Rs 4100.
As per the official notification of the Indian Railways the hike in Risk on Duty Allowance (RDA) takes into account the risks undertaken by the employees on duty. The notification also states that in case any gateman or taximan feels endangered, he will not be forced to continue working.
