On May 5, Swiggy announced a tenure-recognition benefits programme for employees who have completed three, five, seven or 10 years in the organisation. As an organisation about to embark on its sixth year of operations, it has now decided to reward those who stood by it through good times and bad.

The programme offers employees flexibility and convenience, tapping into their personal motivations and aspirations, enabling them to fulfil themselves personally and professionally going forward.

Under the programme, employees will receive benefits, such as experiential gifts, one-time-use long service leave, enhanced encashable leaves and sabbaticals to name a few. To cultivate one’s personal interests, employees will be able to take an extended time off between four weeks to six months, according to their needs.

We have a fair share of employees across all levels, who have crossed the tenure milestones and have powered the growth story of the brand. Through these benefits, we wish to recognise them for their hard work and loyalty

Moreover, keeping in mind the aspirational millennials and Gen Z who form a majority of the workforce in the organisation, the benefits programme includes an offer of a 12-month sabbatical for employees, who want to upskill or start their own venture without having to worry about job security.

However, employees can take the sabbatical leave as per their personal needs and convenience, and not just for professional gains. Swiggy has extended the programme to ensure that its people have the flexibility to celebrate milestones at their own convenience.

The benefits programme includes sabbatical leaves, which will help people take a break to pursue scuba diving, meditation in the Himalayas or just go an extended chill time with family and friends.

Speaking about Swiggy’s Tenured Employee Recognition Benefit Programme, Girish Menon, head of human resources, highlights, “About six years back, we started as a brand that provides unparalleled convenience to our customers and we continue to demonstrate the same philosophy in crafting our employee benefits, by viewing them through an employee-experience lens. We believe that flexibility is a key driver for our millennial-dominant workforce. We have a fair share of employees across all levels, who have crossed the tenure milestones and have powered the growth story of the brand. Through these benefits, we wish to recognise them for their hard work and loyalty.”

“Learning and curiosity are a huge part of the Swiggy culture and the benefits programme also enables employees to pursue their academics or try their hands at entrepreneurship, without having to worry about job security. Hence, we have made a comprehensive benefits programme that appeals to our diverse workforce, which is flexible and convenient. Moving from work-life balance to work-life integration holds the key to happy and satisfied employees,” concludes Menon.
