DBS plans to hire 150 techies through its Hack2Hire programme

DBS Bank has resumed its Hack2Hire programme after almost a year-long break. The virtual hackathon challenge will witness participation from techies, where the Bank will get a chance to evaluate the problem-solving skills of the participants through technical skills. This year, the Bank is planning to hire around 150 techies through the Hack2Hire programme, which will enable techies to meet like-minded people. The ones who perform well in the challenge will be selected for the final round interview.

The Bank opened its first office in India in Mumbai in 1994, and today has a network of almost 600 branches across 19 states in the country. Last year, Lakshmi Vilas Bank was amalgamated with DBS Bank. DBS Asia Hub -2 (DAH2) in Hyderabad is the Bank’s largest tech hub outside Singapore, which is its home market

The Company is aiming to fill about 13 developer engineering positions as it is scaling up its operation to use artificial intelligence (AI) / machine learning (ML) and blockchain technologies to reshape the future of banking. Experienced professionals and freshers are invited to participate in the challenge and will be offered a job at DAH2, which supports the technological capabilities for DBS in Asia.

“Hiring top technology talent is the fuel for our ambition of becoming a world class engineering organisation in the next few years. We are confident of giving the right platform and environment for these engineers to thrive and build successful careers with DBS,” says Alex Yew Meng Woo, Managing Director and CEO of DBS Asia Hub 2, Hyderabad.

In 2016, DBS launched India’s first mobile-only bank, digibank, which now has about a million savings accounts. The Bank wants to harness tech talent to provide financial planning, wealth management, asset digitalisation, and sustainability solutions through AI/ML and blockchain technologies.

“We are looking to uncover high-quality talent to join us as we shape the digital finance landscape and make banking joyful for our customers,” says Soh Siew Choo, froup head of Big Data/AI and consumer banking technology, DBS.

Through the Hack2Hire Festival in October, the Bank will provide applicants a peek into life at DBS. The festival will comprise a series of talks on topics such as the DBS innovation engine, emerging technologies and the future of work and workspaces.
