The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has come up with an online solution using which employees can retrieve their Universal Account Number (UAN), in case they have lost or forgotten the same.
With employees changing jobs frequently these days, it is natural for some to lose their constant 12-digit identifier or UAN or even forget the same. Without this UAN it is not possible for employees to carry out various provident-fund related activities or transactions.
Now EPFO’s online service will help them retrieve this UAN through a few simple steps.
The employees need to simply visit the official website of EPFO and go to the Member UAN/Online Service (OCS/OTCP). The ‘Know your UAN’ button under Important Links is what will help them. The employees have to enter their registered mobile number and captcha, and then click to receive an OTP. Once the OTP is validated on their mobile phones, they can proceed to fill in their name, date of birth, member ID, Aadhaar or PAN number and captcha as required. Then, if they choose ‘Show My UAN’, by clicking on the same, they will receive their UAN number on their registered mobile number.
The process for activation of UAN, for those who haven’t yet done it, is also a simple process that can be done online.
The EPFO has been enhancing its digital facilities and services, making life very convenient for subscribers, especially pensioners. For many matters, subscribers need not visit a physical EPFO office any more. Since 2022, EPFO has made provisions for pensioners covered under the pension scheme (EPS) to submit their life certificates online any time of the year.
