Fidelity Investments refurbishes office to maximise flexibility

The office space in Bangalore has been modified keeping in mind the feedback and needs of the employees to embrace both offsite and onsite working in a truly dynamic manner

Fidelity Investments India has completely refurbished its office in Bangalore, with updated infrastructure, facilities, and amenities to provide more space focused on flexible working.

The Company has been trying to blend work-from home and work-from-office in a hybrid model, in preparation for the future of work. Over the last 30 months, it has tried out remote work and voluntary re-entry before arriving at this blended model.

This model allows employees to access the benefits of working onsite — such as collaboration, camaraderie, and team building, all hallmarks of Fidelity’s culture — and at the same time, this hybrid model allows employees the flexibility to work from home and manage diverse work and life needs.

Presently, employees “work one week per month along with their teams at a dedicated space at the office, with the option to come into the office more often and work in common workspaces. This enables collaboration within their teams as well as across other teams in the business,” explained Seema Unni, head of HR, Fidelity Investments India.

“We have always believed in the power of in-person working experiences to enable our employees to experience the best of Fidelity’s culture, collaborate together, and bring their best selves to work,” added Unni.

According to her, the Company’s “policies have always provided for flexibility, allowing our employees to enjoy working at the office while managing work and life needs offsite”.

Vijai Kishan, regional chair – India, and head of personal investing (PI), Fidelity Investments India revealed that the feedback from the employees about the “benefits of working from home” and “their energy and excitement at being able to meet once again in person at the office” have led to the changes in the offices. The office spaces have been modified keeping in mind the feedback and “needs of our employees to embrace both offsite and onsite working in a truly dynamic manner.”

The number of meeting rooms have been increased, focusing on providing several small rooms that make it easy for employees to quickly gather, connect, and engage in an agile manner. Several collaboration spaces have been provided adjacent to workstations, where employees can gather along with team members to brainstorm over a cup of coffee or tea. There is also space for large team meetings, leadership meetings and townhalls. In addition, there are recreation spaces, interview and training rooms, pantries on each floor, a quiet room, facilities for nursing mothers, a multipurpose activity room and more.

The 7,000-strong workforce of Fidelity India works out of offices in Bangalore and Chennai.
