In a move to equip learners in Gujarat with crucial skills in cutting-edge technologies, IBM had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Commissionerate of Technical Education (CTE Gujarat) under the Government of Gujarat. This strategic collaboration centres on the utilisation of IBM SkillsBuild and will help the learners get equipped with several technologies such as Gen AI (generative AI), cybersecurity, hybrid cloud, and workplace skills for professional advancement.

Through IBM SkillsBuild training programmes, the collaboration seeks to bridge knowledge gaps for graduates and professionals, enhancing their expertise in emerging technology and soft skills. Additionally, IBM will help to elevate the state’s excellence in technical education, playing a pivotal role in shaping a skilled workforce ready for the challenges of emerging technologies such as AI and hybrid cloud.

The initiative will help the State to create opportunities and foster a dynamic workforce. The collaboration also aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, aiming to strengthen Gujarat’s education and skilling ecosystem.

IBM SkillsBuild, a pro-bono education programme, is designed by IBM to specifically benefit underrepresented communities in technology. The programme is a valuable resource for adult learners, high school and university students and faculty, providing essential skills in emerging technologies such as AI and hybrid cloud.

The programme includes an online platform and practical experiences through collaborations with a global network of partners. Aligned with IBM’s commitment to skill 30 million people by 2023 and train two million learners in AI by the end of 2026, the collaboration with CTE Gujarat aims to address the existing skills gap in the global workforce.

With this, the company is endeavouring to empower youth and job seekers by offering technological resources and expertise, enabling them to acquire the necessary technical and professional skills for entering or re-entering the workforce.
