Around 79 migrant workers have already received employment on the very first day of inauguration of the Rozgar Setu portal. This job portal has been launched by the Madhya Pradesh government on June 10, in an effort to provide employment to the lakhs of migrant workers who have returned to their homes in the state.

The portal is supposed to provide employment opportunities to the workers as per their existing skills and efficiency.

The state government plans to hold rozgar melas over the next two months to ensure that these migrants are provided the necessary job opportunities. In addition, it is also ensuring that those who qualify, benefit from the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA).

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan claimed at the unveiling of the portal, that Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country to successfully complete the survey of all migrant workers.

The portal has apparently registered 7,30,000 migrant labourers and 5,79,000 members of their families on it. All of the migrant workers who have returned home have been registered on the portal. This is in addition to the employers who are seeking workers as they have begun resuming economic activities.

Around 5,246 employers have registered on the portal and a total of 13,10,000 workers and families have been registered on the Rozgar Setu portal.
