    Morneau Shepell enters India through strategic alliance with 1to1help

    The company’s 4,000 employees serve approx. 20,000 clients, including small businesses and large corporations and associations in North America.

    Canada-based Morneau Shepell has set its foot in India through a strategic tie up with 1to1help.net. Fifty-year old Morneau Shepell offers employee assistance programmes and has an integrative approach to health, benefits, retirement. 1to1help also provides counselling services to companies as well as individuals in India.

    In December 2015, Morneau Shepell expanded its US operationby acquiring B ensinger, DuPont & Associates (BDA), and another EAP company in the US.

    Richard Albert, vice-president, global business development, Morneau Shepell, says, “Over half the Fortune 500 companies have employees in India, which has become a world leader in business process outsourcing, technology and manufacturing operations. Through working with our alliance 1to1help.net, multinational clients can provide the same level of support to their employees in India as they do elsewhere in the world, enhancing their global value proposition as an employer of choice.”

    Employee assistance programmes help employees deal with personal problems that may be negatively affecting their health and well-being, as well as their job performance. They also deals with immediate family members of the concerned employees, wherein they may receive short-term counselling or referrals for help in dealing with their issues.

    Given the high incidence of depression in India and the high youth suicide rate, EAP services may be especially important for employees working in this country.

    Anil Bisht, director, 1to1help, says, “While our approach will be tailored to meet cultural needs in various countries, our level of support will be consistently high and focussed on helping employees regain and maintain good health.”

    The mental health of employees is a growing concern for organisations now given that it can negatively impact an employee’s performance and physical health. It is a reflection of how satisfied and balanced people are and how effectively they are able to manage their feelings. In today’s world, employees are faced with a tremendous amount of stress. In addition to the stress of performance, career growth and workplace interactions and associations, there are also issues like marriage, relationships, loneliness, depression and parenting.

    With a strength of 4,000 employees, Morneau Shepell serves about 20,000 clients, ranging from small businesses to some of the largest corporations and associations in North America.
