After serving as director-HR (business, strategy and corporate functions) at Cashree Payments for well over two and a half years, Navendu Shekhar has joined India Today as head of human resources.

An alumnus of Management Development Institute, Gurugram, Shekhar has done short stints with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Mercer in the initial years of his professional journey.

From 2013 to 2015, he worked with Vodafone as assistant manager-human resources. He then moved to Micromax Informatics as deputy manager-human resources for less than a year.

He joined Amazon as HR business partner in 2016. This assignment took him to Pune. Less than four years into this role, he was elevated to the position of senior HR business partner. This role gave him an opportunity to further hone his skills in the areas of staff retention, HR strategy, coaching, employee learning and development, employee engagement, stakeholder management, strategic thinking, multitasking, interpersonal communication, as well as labour and employment law among other aspects of HR.

It was in September 2021 that he moved to Cashfree Payments as director-HR.

Shekhar holds a BE in electrical and electronics engineering from Manipal Academy of Higher Education.

He took to LinkedIn to express his excitement at joining India Today and used the opportunity to thank his mentors at Cashfree.
