Sarovar Hotels has elevated Nihar Mehta to the position of general manager, human resources. Mehta was earlier corporate human resource manager at the Company.

Backed by almost a decade of experience, Mehta will be in charge of heading the human resources (HR) department independently. He is also entrusted with driving all initiatives in the HR domain and will be responsible for managing employee development policies as well as systems for the organisation.

Mehta had joined Sarovar Hotels as corporate HR manager in August, 2017. He was responsible for managing the general HR functions, including employee-development policies and systems. Prior to joining Sarovar Hotels, Mehta had worked with Ravi Jaipuria Corporation as HR manager and led the retail division for J-Mart, which came under the aegis of Jaipuria Corporation.  He has also worked in the HR department of Varun Beverages, which is also part of the Jaipuria Group.

A business management graduate from Manipal University, Mehta also did a stint with ITC Fortune Corporate headquarters, where he was responsible for assisting the head-HR in managing the people function across 43 Fortune hotels in the country.

Speaking on his new role, Mehta says, “The elevation is a great opportunity, and responsibility as well. Apart from continuing the work and making sure that the company has best people practices, I shall also be looking at HR initiatives. Sarovar’s Hotels’ people practices are already well known in the market and is one of the reasons candidates choose to be part of it.”

As is clear from his academic pursuits, Mehta has been a management student throughout. He holds an MBA degree from the University of Western Australia, and also possesses a master’s in human resource management (HRM) from Monash University, Melbourne.
