Tata Steel inaugurates crèche for its employees

A modern and well equipped crèche cum day care facility, Muskaan, is one of the initiatives under the company’s progressive HR policy.

The Tata group has lately been introducing various women-friendly policies and practices. Joining the league, Tata Steel, a subsidiary of the Tata Group recently inaugurated ‘Muskaan, Jamshedpur’ —a modern and well equipped crèche cum day care facility.

The facility is located at the Annexe Building of Chummery Guest House. Aimed at creating a safe haven for children of working parents, the newly-built facility is equipped with amenities to take care of a growing child’s daily needs and provisions for engaging them in various indoor and outdoor activities, under the supervision of qualified care-givers.

The company has always held the view that people are its greatest asset. Its HR policies have always laid prime focus on the development and growth of its people and employee relations. Muskaan is one of several such initiatives of a progressive HR policy.

Ruchi Narendran inaugurated the facility as the chief guest. The inauguration was also attended by Suresh Dutt Tripathi, vice president, human resource management; Ritu Raj Sinha, chief, corporate services; Arvind Kumar Pandey, vice president, Tata Workers’ Union (TWU) and others.

  1. i want to know whether charging money for creche is allowed under factory act 1948, or maternity benefit act 1961(amendent 2016).
    because tata steel is charging 4000 bucks per month from female employees for this service.
