Vedanta has launched a vaccination drive for the eligible children of its employees as well as business partners across locations. The natural resources conglomerate has also set up community vaccination camps for children in the 15 to 18 age group in Mumbai and Delhi, where COVID cases are surging. The Company will also make booster shots available for the elderly and frontline workers.

Vedanta has been contributing to relief work ever since the pandemic struck, by producing and supplying oxygen; distributing oxygen cylinders, ventilators, ICU beds; setting up field hospitals and COVID care centres; providing vaccinations and medical equipment for critical care, and so on.

The Group had set up 10 field hospitals with 100 beds each last year and has tied up with Apollo Hospital and Healthspring, as well as other hospitals to help in COVID management across its offices and sites. Additionally, the ‘Swasth Gaon Abhiyaan’ under the Anil Agarwal Foundation (AAF) provides end-to-end healthcare services to 1000 villages across 12 states.

The latest vaccination drive is a step towards ensuring the health, safety and well-being of Vedanta’s staff and their families, as well as the community in general.

The initiative has been launched under the aegis of the Anil Agarwal Foundation. The Group has already administered around 1.5 lakh doses throughout the pandemic. This time round, the Group is looking at administering at least two lakh more vaccine doses. Till date, it has invested over Rs 250 crore on providing COVID relief, which benefitted more than 15 lakh people.

Amidst the third wave and the threat of the Omicron variant, Sunil Duggal, Group CEO, Vedanta reiterates that the “the safety and wellbeing of our people and their extended families is our top priority”. The Group stands “in support of our government to fight this virus and eventually make our nation COVID free”.

The Company which operates not just in India, but also in South Africa, Namibia, and Australia, produces oil & gas, zinc, lead, silver, copper, iron ore, steel, aluminum & power.
