Wipro 3D, an additive manufacturing (AM) solutions company, and Christ University, a renowned institution of higher education, have recently signed a memorandum of understanding. This MoU aims to promote the collaboration between industry and academia and signifies the commitment of both the sectors in advancing the cooperation.

Wipro 3D is widely recognised as a leading provider of AM solutions, which refers to the innovative technology of 3D printing. The company’s expertise in this field has established it as a key player in the Indian market. On the other hand, Christ University has a strong reputation for delivering quality education at undergraduate, postgraduate, and research levels across various fields. Its recognition by the university grants commission (UGC) as a deemed university further enhances its influence in the academic field.

The primary objective of this collaboration is to establish a connection between industry and academia by leveraging the respective strengths of both entities.

This MoU covers various aspects of cooperation, such as additive manufacturing services, joint research projects, and the development of career-oriented academic programmes. The major aim of both the entities is to drive innovation, promote the creation of intellectual property, facilitate skill development, and enhance awareness by combining their resources, expertise, and knowledge of additive manufacturing technology.

This strategic partnership between Wipro 3D and Christ University is aligned with the national strategy for additive manufacturing which was introduced by the government of India in February 2022. This collaboration is anticipated to play a crucial role in propelling the progress of additive manufacturing, positioning India as a leader in this state-of-the-art technology.

Both Wipro 3D and Christ University expressed their enthusiasm for the partnership. It is hoped that this collaboration will bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, equipping students with industry-oriented skills and providing them with experiential learning opportunities. Additionally, it offers faculty members the chance to engage in research projects and gain exposure to industry practices. The long-term engagement envisioned in the MoU aims to benefit students, faculty, and the industry as a whole.
