With over 30 years of professional experience, Cherian began her career as an associate professor at Sophia College.

Mona Cherian, COO & head-HR, at Thomas Cook India has now been elevated as president & group head-HR. This development is part of the major restructuring at Thomas Cook India.

Cherian has more than 30 years of professional experience, having started her work life as associate professor at Sophia College, in 1985. Two and a half years later, she joined NIIT as a senior systems executive.

Her foray into the human resources domain began as a training officer with the ESSAR Group, followed by a 16-year long tenure at Oracle Financial Services Software Ltd. There, she managed the human resources group of OFSS ( i-flex Solutions) at the Mumbai, Pune and Europe offices.

In addition to managing the HR team, Cherian also managed the global immigration team, international compensation formulation, employee engagement and various strategic initiatives. She led a global team responsible for organisational effectiveness initiatives, learning and development, compensation and benefits, performance management, employee relations and e-HR.

At Thomas Cook India, Cherian’s mandate as president & group head-HR, includes strategy, leadership development, employee engagement and HR functions at the Group level.

Cherian is also entrusted with developing talent for the organisation and the industry via the company’s education and training vertical—Centre of Learning. An Arts graduate from Osmania University, she also holds a Diploma in Hotel Administration and Food Technology, from the Sophia Polytechnic, and an Honors Diploma in Systems Management from NIIT.
