Sarovar Hotels and Resorts has recently appointed Mielle Batliwala as its new assistant vice president-human resources. In the new role, Batliwala will manage the group-wide HR responsibilities such as talent acquisition, talent development and retention, employee relations, compensation and benefits, as well as performance management.
Batliwala brings with her over two decades of experience in human resources. She has a proven track record of success, previously holding leadership roles at Marriott International in different cities, such as Mumbai, Goa, Pune and Delhi, as well as their corporate offices. Her last held position at
Marriot was that of senior manager corporate-HR since 2019.
She started her career with JW Marriott Hotel in Mumbai in the year 2002, having joined the hotel as its manager-human resources. She was with the hotel for over seven years, spearheading its daily activities in the HR department such as managing recruitment, total compensation and associate relations.
In 2010, she moved to Goa Marriot Resorts and Spa as its director-HR. She held the role for close to two years before moving to JW Marriot Pune, in 2011. She was associated with the hotel as its director-HR for close to six years.
From JW Marriot Pune, Batliwala then came to New Delhi and started her stint with JW Marriot New Delhi Aerocity, in the year 2017. She was associated with the hotel for over two years as its director-HR. In this capacity, she managed talent acquisition, succession planning, workforce planning, performance management, and training & development for hotel associates. She was also accountable for coaching and developing others to achieve efficient business objectives, creating processes to align HR goals with the broader business objectives of the hotel, and ensuring overall effective HR service delivery.
After the year 2020, she took a career break.
Batliwala holds a graduate degree in commerce from the HR College of Commerce and Economics.
