Standard Chartered has named Rukshila Seneviratne as its new head-human resources for Sri Lanka, effective from 12 January, 2024. In her new capacity, Seneviratne will oversee the country’s people strategy and join the Bank’s country-management team. As part of her role, she will also serve as the co-chair of the Bank’s internal diversity and inclusion (D&I) council.

Seneviratne’s journey with Standard Chartered commenced in Dubai as an officer-consumer banking mortgage operations, in May 2008. She later moved to Sri Lanka in March 2010, taking on the role of manager-secured lending and credit initiation.

In June 2013, she played a pivotal role in the HR team, leading HR service delivery. After that, she held various senior positions within HR, including HR service delivery, performance rewards and benefits delivery, talent acquisition and HR business partner for retail banking, risk and support functions.

Backed by over two decades of experience, she has also worked with other companies such as The Finance Company and the National Development Bank.

Seneviratne holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Sri Jayewardenepura University Postgraduate Institute of Management and an advanced diploma in psychology from the Scottish Qualification Authority. Additionally, she is a certified Mental Health First Aider (MHFA, England).

With her promotion, the bank aims to enhance its employee-value proposition in alignment with the dynamic needs of a flourishing workplace. She will be pivotal in recognising and fostering internal talent, providing them with opportunities to assume leadership roles.

Seneviratne expressed her enthusiasm on LinkedIn at this promotion. She eagerly anticipates contributing to nurturing the “distinctive and inclusive workplace culture, which the bank has cultivated,” aiming to become the employer of choice across industries.
