Dr Reji M Pillai has been appointed the group chief operating officer (GCOO) of Yellow Fertility, the Indian fertility centre that offers personalised care and support.
Backed by over two decades of experience, Dr Reji M Pillai began his professional journey as a humble appliance sales manager, with Iceland Frozen Foods, in March of 2003.
A year later, he moved to Sainsbury’s as senior duty manager, in February of 2024. At this European retail group with more than 1000 stores across Europe, providing a wide range of services to the general public, he reported directly to regional head on sales, store operations and human resource procedures. For three and a half years, he also analysed the market competitor and helped make strategic business plans to overcome competition.
October of 2007 saw him joining Living Liquidz India, a retail outlet dealing in wines and beers, as manager.
His next stop was Infocus Diagnostics, in September 2012 where he spent about seven months handling HR and operations on project basis.
Elixir Innovation Foundation roped him in for the role of business head projects and HR. This role saw him based out of Ahmedabad for almost four years.
In December of 2010 he came to be associated with Unlimited Unnati, as empreneur for two and a half years before moving Manav Nesvi Infrastructure, as group manager-HR and IT operations.
From 2013 to 2017 he worked with HL College of Management, as a visiting faculty member, teaching business management, people management, and crisis management among other subjects.
He then played COO-operations and HR, City Gold Entertainment from 2015 to 2017. Then came a stint with MHL for two and a half years, first as head of administration-SBUs and then as head of administration and non-tech functions.
For over three and a half years he was group head operations and compliance, Indira IVF Hospital. September 2023 to July 2024 he was associated with ASG Eye Hospital as group head operations, projects and compliances. He served as interim COO and VP, group operations, IHPL, from 2024 to 2025.
For over 16 years now, he has been director and chair, Empowering Growth, a non profit organisation catering to the out-of the-box training needs of SME and mid-cap size corporates. He has also been a JV partner of Fairdeal Production since 2015.
At Yellow Fertility, Dr Reji will be responsible for end-to-end operations, process standardisation, regulatory compliance, digital transformation and scaling the company’s multi-centre operations to support its ambitious expansion plan.
Ambika Bhaik, CEO, Yellow Fertility and IVF, said, Dr Reji’s “expertise will play a pivotal role in strengthening our business growth and patient experience. His strategic foresight and operational excellence will be helpful as we expand our presence and set new benchmarks in affordable, high-quality fertility care.”
According to Dr Reji M Pillai, “Yellow Fertility’s mission of making high-quality fertility care affordable, trusted and patient-centric strongly resonates with my own philosophy. I am excited to contribute to its next phase of growth.”
