2% spurt in demand for entry-level job seekers in Aug. 2022: Report

There was a dip in hiring activity in August 2022 by three per cent as compared to August 2021, says the ‘Monster Employment Index – Job and Hiring Trends in India’ report for August 2022.

The demand for entry-level roles, with no experience or less than three years’ experience rose by two per cent, as compared to the same period last year. There was a decrease in demand for intermediate roles, that is, for people with four to six years of experience, by two per cent.

One per cent dip was witnessed in mid-senior level roles, that is, for job seekers with seven to 10 years of experience.

When it came to senior-level roles, where 11 to 15 years of experience is required, the hiring witnessed a three per cent growth.

The highest growth was seen in leadership roles requiring experience of over 16 years.

Online recruitment activity saw a spurt in about six cities. Coimbatore witnessed 13 per cent increase in online hiring, followed by Mumbai with 11 per cent increase. Ahmedabad too witnessed a 13 per cent increase in online hiring across retail, advertising, public relations and BFSI sectors.

Positive annual growth was seen in Hyderabad too. On the other hand, Delhi-NCR and Pune showed no growth compared to the same period a year ago.

The southern cities of Bangalore, Kochi and Chennai, as well as the cities of Chandigarh, Baroda and Kolkata posted a dip in hiring.

In all the metro cities, growth was seen in the BFSI and IT- hardware, software industry. Strong growth was witnessed in the finance, accounts and HR & admin sectors in the major cities.
