The Indore district administration is going that extra mile to ensure that people with disabilities (PwD) get employed in industrial units in and around the city. Through the Nishakt se Sashakt Yojana, a platform will be created wherein job seekers can register with the social justice department. The Department will then contact various industries and business establishments for suitable jobs.

The administration is also drawing a list of people with disabilities who wish to be economically independent, with complete details of their qualifications and skill sets, so that they can be suitably employed.

Those PwD who wish to be self-employed will be given the required assistance to obtain loans from the banks for their ventures. Under the programme, the administration has already made arrangements for coaching to be provided to 50 students to get through the PCS exam. According to the interest of the PwDs, and the available opportunities/vacancies, the administration will take measures to make PwDs industry-ready.

Many employers in Indore have already taken on PwDs as employees and have also modified their work environment to make it comfortable for them.

Steps will also be taken to ensure that persons with disabilities or Divyangjan as they are referred to in Hindi, are able to benefit from schemes run by the government. The objective is to provide all the aid required to the disabled to help them be economically independent, and earn their livelihood respectfully.
