ISRO cautions job seekers against fake ads

On February 20, the Indian Space Research Organisation issued a notice to all aspiring job seekers in the Department of Space to beware of fraudulent invitations to apply for posts in the organisation.

In a statement, the organisation said, “It has come to our notice that some agencies are inviting applications for posts in the name of ISRO. This is to bring to the notice of the job aspirants and the public at large that ISRO has NOT, repeat NOT entrusted or authorised any agencies to conduct the recruitment for ISRO.”

It has been further elaborated in the statement that some fraudulent employment agencies are making fake offers of appointment for the post of ‘scientist’ or ‘trainee’ through emails.

The fraudsters are also offering training positions in ISRO and calling aspirants for walk-in-interviews. These agencies have apparently even taken money from the candidates on the pretext that they will get an appointment in ISRO. On receiving complaints, the

Department has taken action and registered a case under the relevant provisions of IPC and the Information Technology Act.

ISRO has also issued clarifications on the recruitment process in the organisation. “The selection process for recruitment to various posts in DOS/ISRO involves written test/skill test, wherever applicable, followed by personal interview of candidates with the duly constituted departmental selection committee. The final selection panel drawn after completion of entire selection process will also be published in the ISRO website and offers of appointment to the selected candidates will be issued as per the selection panel, in the order of merit”, clarified the statement.
