Tech giant, Amazon, plans to hire around 100,000 operations executives across 100 new fulfilment centres, delivery stations, sortation centres and other sites in the US and Canada.
The new recruits will receive a minimum pay of $15 per hour and benefits from day one. They will enjoy sign-on bonuses of up to $1,000 in select cities, and access to training programmes such as career choice, which pre-pays 95 per cent of tuition fees for courses in high-demand fields. The Company also offers full-time employees industry-leading benefits, which include health, vision and dental insurance from day one, worth 401(k) with 50 per cent company match, as well as up to 20 weeks paid parental leave.
Last week, the Company had announced 33,000 corporate and technology jobs in addition to the operation jobs announced on Monday, September 14.
In an official communique, Dave Clark, senior vice president, worldwide operations, Amazon, revealed that the expansion plans will not compromise safety; that the new hires have already been given over 1,200,000 hours of safety training. More than 500,000 hours of training will be further imparted to make sure that deliveries happen on time, in an efficient manner and the safety of customers is not compromised. Clark promised a “safe and modern environment” for all “employees and partners.”
He also revealed that Amazon is opening 100 buildings in September alone, across new fulfilment and sortation centres, delivery stations and other sites.
Amazon has already opened over 75 new fulfilment and sortation centres, along with regional air hubs and delivery stations in the US and Canada this year. Since 2010, Amazon has directly created more than 600,000 jobs in the US across its corporate offices and operations sites, and invested more than $350 billion across more than 40 states, including infrastructure and compensation.
