Vakrangee has tied up with Bank of Baroda (BoB) to appoint Women Business Correspondent (BC) Sakhis, who will provide banking services in the villages of Uttar Pradesh.

The technology-driven company, which aims to be the largest franchisee-based distribution channel, will work with BoB for the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (UPSRLM) to appoint and onboard 1,554 BC Sakhis in the Raebareli and Lucknow districts.

Dinesh Nandwana, MD & group CEO, Vakrangee, is proud of the fact that Vakrangee is a “responsible and socially-conscious company” with a focus on gender equality. The Company aims to “build a workplace culture with gender diversity and believes it is core to the success and growth of the Company.”

This partnership with BoB will help Vakrangee “prioritise having women banking BC agents in Uttar Pradesh.”

Vakrangee outlets are equipped to provide a range of banking services, as they work in tandem with the Government’s vision of financial, social and digital inclusion by reaching out to people, especially women, in the remotest corners of India, where even basic banking services are unavailable.

Vakrangee will facilitate the training of these Women as BC (Business Correspondent) Sakhis or banking agents across all the districts of the state. These agents, will, in turn, improve the access to banking facilities in the remote villages of Uttar Pradesh and help women increase their household income.

Amidst the ongoing pandemic, these business correspondents have been instrumental in ensuring the continuity of banking services.
