Subway is gearing to hire 40,000 in May across the US for various roles, from entry to managerial level. The surge in sales has led to this hiring spree, after having been through a period of slow sales and growth. The chain had closed down over 2,000 outlets across 2,400 locations in 2020.
Now, Subway is offering its employees across 20,000 outlets several benefits including scholarships, assistance with tuition fee, health and wellness perks and technology savings. These incentives are expected to attract more people to apply for these jobs.
Despite restaurants reopening across the US, many companies are finding it difficult to attract applicants even after offering incentives and organising hiring events on a big scale.
Subway has allowed applicants to apply via text message. Some franchises have also offered a $2 per hour bonus to attract applications.
The restaurant chain offers to teach eligible candidates various basic life skills, such as leadership, customer service and management.
It promises to facilitate employees’ training, as well as personal and professional growth and development programmes.
Earlier this month, Donagh Herlihy joined Subway as its new global chief digital and information officer. He will be overseeing the Company’s global technology initiatives aimed at delivering modern and effective platforms for Subway franchisees and guests.
Given his extensive knowledge and understanding of QSR brands and restaurant technology, Herlihy’s appointment is expected to give the required push in terms of digital transformation, which will ensure a better guest experience, revenue growth and operating efficiency for the Chain’s franchisees.
