Avendus Group, the Indian financial services provider, has announced the appointment of Anirban Banerjee as its new chief human resources officer, effective December 2021.

A postgraduate diploma holder from XLRI, Jamshedpur, this alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, entered the people management profession in 2004. He started off his career with ITC, where he worked as the assistant manager – HR for four years. His major responsibility during his ITC stint was to partner with the workers and the labour union to deliver smooth, unhindered operations.

Moving from ITC in 2008, Banerjee joined IIFL Wealth and Asset Management, where he worked for over 13 years. At IIFL, Banerjee was part of the founding team and helped establish cutting-edge HR processes and systems in a multi-stakeholder business environment, to build one of India’s leading wealth and asset management teams.

He got the opportunity to shoulder the responsibility of enhancing the human capital quotient of IIFL Wealth and Asset Management during his successful tenure at IIFL, which gradually became the first wealth manager to be listed in the Indian stock exchange.

Excited at this appointment, Banerjee believes “that the value systems and people-centric culture of the firm have stood it in good stead thus far, and it would be a privilege to build upon this rich legacy to create sustainable yet cutting-edge human resource practices.”
