Capgemini, the French technology firm, has announced that it’ll hire 60,000 new employees in India in 2022. Ashwin Yardi, CEO, has said that the recruitment drive has been possible because of rising demand for digital-led solutions.
The new employees will be a mix of freshers and lateral talent, with focus on emerging areas such as 5G and quantum. Capgemini has an employee strength of 3,55,000, half of which resides and works in India.
In 2021, Capgemini had launched a 5G lab in India in partnership with Ericsson. This lab has started to get a lot of traction in the recent months.
Last month, Aiman Ezzat, group CEO, Capgemini, had admitted that India is going to play a bigger role in managing operations for the Company in the coming months. He’d also assured that the Company would look at developing leaders in India, who would then further be able to lead teams globally. The Company has 100 account executives, who are in the process of becoming global account executives. It has also ordered more centres of excellence to be built in India this year.
Quantum, 5G and Metaverse are the three technologies that are going to be big growth drivers for the Company in the future. Capgemini is in the process of setting up labs to build solutions for these technologies for its global customers.
