Jet Airways’ employees unhappy with resolution plan, call it ill planned

The employees of Jet Airways feel the Airline is forcing them to waive off the pending payments that they are owed, especially gratuity, bonus and unpaid leave and all, which they rightfully deserve to be paid.

The All-India Jet Airways’ Officers and Staff Association has, therefore, appealed to the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) and challenged the resolution plan put forth by the Jalan-Kalrock Consortium, the new promoter of the Airline.

The Association alleges that the resolution plan is poorly drawn out and unclear, as it is based on various hypotheses pertaining to the use of its property, workforce and other assets.

It is also alleged that Jet now plans to retain only a small part of the workforce and has been talking of hiring new candidates.

The staff association feels Jet is trying to get the employees to waive off all the pending payments that are rightfully due to them, including gratuity, privilege leave, bonus and unpaid salaries. In fact, the Airline reportedly tried to offer its former employees free air tickets in lieu of their pending salaries, which the employees obviously find insulting given the fact that they stood by the Airline through its bad times, even working without salaries. About 11,000 employees have been totally disregarded, being offered a very small amount in settlement, which is a lot less than the unpaid dues owed to them.
