Citigroup, the US-based bank, has inaugurated one Citi Solution Centre each at Chennai and Pune as part of its efforts to expand its network of solution centres, and improve service capacity. At least 4,000 seats will be added via these centres.

The move indicates that Citi is gearing up to hire quality talent to be part of its growth journey and commitment to ensure efficiency as it tries to digitalise most of its customers’ experiences. The Bank already has similar centres in Bengaluru and Mumbai.

The new centres are in keeping with the specifications of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and cover about 4.20 lakh sq ft.

These centres at Pune and Chennai are in alignment with the Group’s digital strategy. They were inaugurated by Ashu Khullar, CEO, Citi India and Stacey N Lacy, chief information officer and head of operations and technology (Asia Pacific).

Meanwhile, Bloomberg reports that Citigroup is planning to hire over 4,000 people in its tech team as it tries to shift all its institutional clients online. The Group realises that the faster it digitalises, the better competitive advantage it will have in the post-pandemic world. At least a 1000 of the new hires will be assigned to the markets technology unit.

Earlier this year, the Bank had revealed that it had increased tech spending by ten per cent last year. It had invested about $10 billion on technological upgradation and expansion.
