The Global Capability Centre (GCC) of Advance Auto Parts in Hyderabad, an auto part aftermarket firm has signed an MoU (Memorandum Of Understanding) with two universities namely, Vardhman College Of Engineering and VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology which will provide an advanced and comprehensive skill development to students. This will help to bridge the gap between industry and academia. Not only that, the initiative will also help in bridging the skill gap in India helping in creating a skilled workforce ready to work in the industry.
Scheduled to begin in the second half of this year, these skill development programmes will be a holistic development of students through innovative technologies, training programs, guest lectures etc.
As part of this collaboration the company will provide assets, training, curriculum content, and hands-on labs to academic institutions to advance relevant skills for today’s workforce.
“Our courses and training programmes will offer real-time knowledge and practical programs featuring tailored business training modules, thereby giving students an opportunity to graduate with recognised tertiary qualifications and highly employable and in-demand credentials,” says Mahender Dubba, MD, Advance Auto Parts India GCC .
He further shares that the skill gap challenge especially in the information technology, digital and technology skills is a major challenge and this partnership will help in addressing the issue in the country.
Vibhuti Lall, HR Leader at Advance Auto Parts India GCC, mentions that Advance will further provide opportunities to some candidates in the form of internships which can also lead to full time employment with the company.
