Shoppers Stop is expanding its operations in 2023, with a focus on tier-II and tier-III cities. It also aims to hire members from the LGBTQIA community.

The store plans to increase the share of new and refurbished stores to over 50 per cent by next year, even while it continues to invest in its 16 private labels as well as celebrity endorsements.

In an endeavour to increase diversity, the retail store will focus on hiring workers from different backgrounds, including members of the LGBTQIA community.

The current team at Shoppers Stop includes about one per cent persons with disabilities and the LGBTQIA community. The retail chain hopes to increase this number to two per cent by the end of next year.

Shoppers Stop currently operates about 88 stores pan-India. The chain is planning to launch standalone SS Beauty stores and SS Beauty online next year, which will cater to the needs of teenagers as well as women in their late 40s. It will soon offer more make-up, skincare and fragrance products.

The Indian fashion and beauty destination, was in the news last month when it launched its sixth store in Dwarka, Delhi. At the time of the launch, Venu Nair, customer care associate, managing director and chief executive officer, Shoppers Stop had said that the retail chain “strives to ensure a seamless shopping experience for its customers” and that “with the launch of this store, we have expanded our reach to 90 stores in 48 cities”.
