Recently, HRKatha broke the news on the elevation of Richard Lobo as HR head, who will continue to manage the India operations.
In an internal mail to the employees, Pravin Rao, COO, Infosys, wrote, “Shankar will be responsible for envisioning the roadmap for HR, driving strategy and aggressive implementation of operational priorities in alignment with the overall organizational mandate. All the HR Heads of Infosys group companies will report to him in this role.”
In March, Infosys split the HR role into strategy and operations. It wanted one HR head to focus entirely on leadership development and succession planning, and the other to manage routine operations.
For Philips, this is the second high-profile exit from its HR function. Recently, Yashwant Mahadik also quit Philips as global HR head. He is all set to join Sun Pharmaceutical as CHRO.
Shankar, a seasoned HR professional, with three decades of experience, started his career with Eicher Tractors in 1984, post his PG from XLRI.
He then moved to Unilever where he spent 20 long years playing various roles covering personnel management, training and operations. His last designation at Unilever was VP-HR, Asia AMET.
He joined Bharti Airtel in 2007 and spent close to seven years there. Shankar had joined Philips only in 2014.
