Having spent over 11 years with Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail as chief human resources officer, Chandrashekhar Chavan is now all set to play CHRO at UltraTech Cement. He is reportedly to take charge in April 2024.

This will not be the first time that Chavan will be associated with UltraTech. He was with the company for over two and a half years, from 2010 to 2013, as head – human resources. During his tenure, he successfully lead the HR function for sales and marketing, and also oversaw talent acquisition, training and development, career development and sales productivity for a large and distributed workforce.

An alumnus of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Chavan worked with Wipro British Telecom as a senior executive for over a year, way back in 1995.

It was in 1996 that he began his association with the Aditya Birla Group, joining Aditya Birla Management Corp. as deputy general manager, based out of Mumbai. After a stint of almost eight years, he moved to Hindalco Industries as general manager – HR, aluminimum sales and marketing division.

From 2006 to 2010, he shifted to the financial vertical and was with Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund as head – human resources and administration. Three and a half years into this role, he moved to UltraTech Cement as head – HR.

Since 2012, he has been with Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, where he has successfully spearheaded organisational transformation and interpreted transformation for people at various levels.

In an exchange filing, the Aditya Birla Group stated Chavan’s appointment as CHRO of UltraTech.
