Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the Indian global IT services, consulting, and business solutions company, will be partnering with its strategic unit, TCS iON and the Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC) to train about 10 million potential candidates and make them suitable for jobs in the automotive industry.

This partnership will not only make ASDC the first sector skill council (SSC) to adopt digital transformation but will help standardise its processes, and ensure digital affiliation and better control and integration.

ASDC will be supported by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), and the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA). ASDC supports the Government’s Skill India programme and schemes, such as like Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDUGKY) that seek to enhance the skills of young aspirants to make them more relevant and qualified for employment in the automotive industry.

Through this collaboration talent will be prepared to fulfill the demands of the industry through relevant classroom and digital learning modules based on its unique ‘Phygital’ learning methodology. While the digital assessment platform will conduct knowledge and skill assessments, the intelligent algorithm will carefully match the skilled youth to the right jobs.

By integrating ASDC’s training partner ecosystem into the same platform, TCS iON will help the Council manage affiliations, enhance quality of delivery, and improve transparency.

“We are pleased to be associated with ASDC to digitally reimagine their training, skilling, and placement initiatives. Our digital learning, assessment and process management platforms will help impart skills at scale and address an important national priority, which is to create a skilled workforce and generate employment,” said Venguswamy Ramaswamy, global head, TCS iON. “This partnership between TCS iON and ASDC sets a precedent and serves as a role model for all the other sector Skill Councils in the country, which are looking to make a meaningful impact.”

Nikunj Sanghi, chairman, ASDC added, “TCS iON’s expertise in skilling, coupled with industry-leading digital technology prowess will enable us to achieve our purpose of continually developing and upgrading automotive skills through skilling and upskilling. This endeavour will focus on creating an automated digital assessment process, a digital learning hub, and a listing platform for jobs and candidates. Fully supported by the auto industry, this will enable us to meet the objectives and aspirations of all stakeholders, (including job aspirants, employers and the Government) towards meeting Skill India/Make in India objectives by creating value additions through skilling/upskilling for human capital creation and enhancement, which will lead to more economic activity and consequent additional jobs.”
