The Central Tool Room & Training Centre (CTTC), Bhubaneswar, under the Ministry of MSME, has successfully completed its four week Summer Internship Programme in May and June 2026. The initiative trained 8,083 engineering students from 22 states and union territories, along with 26 international students from Sudan and Yemen.
The programme was open to students from first year to final year and covered a wide range of disciplines including Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Civil, and Computer Science. It also focused on new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, the Internet of Things, and Additive Manufacturing. The aim was to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry practice by offering intensive hands on training.
Mechanical engineering saw the highest participation with 3,193 students, followed by Electronics (2,209), IT & Software (1,948), Civil (388), and other emerging domains (345). Training was offered across 39 areas, with the most popular courses being Artificial Intelligence (1,748 students), PLC Programming (1,000), AutoCAD (991), Python Programming (413), and Data Analytics (392).
Students came from leading institutions such as IITs, NITs, deemed universities, engineering colleges, and polytechnics. The programme reaffirmed CTTC Bhubaneswar’s role as a premier centre for industry oriented training, designed to improve employability and technical competence among India’s youth.
Originally, CTTC was set up to meet the tooling and training needs of micro, small, and medium enterprises. By offering structured internships in both core engineering and emerging technologies, it continues to play a vital role in preparing the next generation of engineers for industry demands.
