The recent walkout by employees at Google’s London office highlights the ongoing tensions between the company and its workforce, as it continues with its plan to lay off around 12,000 employees worldwide.

As per the Unite website, a protest took place outside Google’s office in Pancras Square, London, following the company’s announcement in January that it would be making redundancies.

The redundancies have impacted long-standing employees who have dedicated years of service to the company, leaving many feeling disillusioned and frustrated by the lack of support from Google.

One of the main concerns raised by the trade union Unite is that Google has ignored the concerns of workers related to the redundancy process. This has led to a sense of mistrust between the company and its employees, as workers feel that their opinions and input are not being valued.

The decision to hold one-to-one consultations with workers without allowing union representatives to be present, has only served to exacerbate this mistrust.

The recent walkout by employees at Google’s London office highlights the ongoing tensions between the company and its workforce, as it continues with its plan to lay off around 12,000 employees worldwide. . The company is under pressure due to fluctuating macroeconomic conditions and attempts to reduce costs have also led to discontinuing employee perks, including laundry and limited snack services. Additionally, non-engineering staff will receive more affordable Chromebooks instead of expensive hardware like Apple Macs.
