United Airlines is aggressively hiring new workers. According to a recent statement by the company, it has already hired 7,000 new employees in the first four months of this year and plans to hire an additional 8,000 by the end of the year, for a total of 15,000 new hires. This number is on par with the number of new hires the company added last year.

In the coming years, United Airlines plans to continue to grow its workforce. The company has set a goal of adding 50,000 workers by 2026. This would represent a significant expansion of its workforce, which stood at around 93,000 at the beginning of this year.

United has confirmed that the company is currently in ‘hiring mode.’ It further added that it already has enough pilots to operate its peak summer schedule, but  still needs to hire additional staff in other areas, such as customer service and ground operations.

Airlines across the industry are also experiencing staffing shortages, particularly for pilots and flight attendants. This contributed to a spike in flight cancellations and delays last year. In response, airlines are offering incentives to attract new hires, such as signing bonuses and increased pay.
