Amazon seems to be set to offer maximum jobs in India — reportedly three times more than China. In fact, the number of vacancies in India is only second to that of Germany, outside the Asia-Pacific. There are 467 vacancies in China and 381 in Japan, followed by 250 in Australia and 174 in Singapore. Most of the recruitments in India will happen in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai.
The retail company considers India to be full of talent. Its Indian teams are responsible for providing effective solutions that form the backbone of the various businesses of the Company across the globe.
The Company’s India operations are set to expand significantly and will not be restricted to only its e-commerce and cloud business (AWS). It will be hiring for other businesses, such as payments, content (Prime video), voice-assistant (Alexa), food retail and customer support. Amazon is looking for talent in many spheres including software development, product and marketing, machine learning, quality assurance, web development, product management, supply chain, content development operations, studio and photography.
As per the new rules announced by the Indian government pertaining to FDI, e-commerce companies are expected to function purely as technology platforms with limited control over the sellers on the platform. With this, Amazon may have to look at a modified business model for the country.
