The new global capability centre (GCC) reflects Corning’s culture of continuous innovation and commitment to growing local talent. The Centre will create about 100 new jobs over the next two years and enhance the company’s operations in information technology, in areas such as supply chain, data, cyber and other digital roles.
The GCC will foster new digital talent, helping Corning fill the technology roles of the future and support the company’s growth both in the region and globally. Furthermore, it is located near the company’s existing research, development, and engineering facility, Corning Research Centre India.
For over six decades, Corning has been active in India’s innovation landscape. In the past two years, the company has launched its Wireless India Development Centre to assist both global and Indian enterprises in embracing 5G technology.
The new joinees will help the company harness data in new ways, especially for smart manufacturing and the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Speaking on the launch, according to Sudhir Pillai, managing director, Corning India, the new Digital and IT Centre “will allow us to advance various capabilities – along with ERP and cybersecurity – for Corning’s locations in India and around the world.”
Soumya Seetharam, SVP and chief digital and information officer, Corning, believes that as Corning expands its expertise in key areas of digital innovation, “we see great potential in India – in Pune in particular.” We’re seeking to hire top talent to support our technologies, while giving them opportunities to grow in their roles and careers,” she added.
