Lupin has appointed Bijender Vats as senior vice president & head-human resources. In his new role, he will lead the company’s HR strategy, focusing on talent management, leadership development, organisational transformation, and workforce capability to support Lupin’s continued global growth.
Vats brings over 25 years of leadership experience across the pharmaceutical, healthcare, life sciences, and agriscience sectors. He has built deep expertise in strategic HR, organisational development, talent management, HR business partnering, diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I), and business transformation.
Most recently, he served as HR head–India & South West Asia, FMC Corporation for over a year, where he led the regional people strategy, partnering with business leaders to strengthen organisational capability, leadership development, and workforce effectiveness across India and South West Asia.
Before that, he was group chief human resources officer, Crystal Crop Protection for more than two years, leading the company’s global HR and administration functions and driving people initiatives supporting business expansion, organisational effectiveness, and leadership capability.
A significant part of his career was spent at MSD, where he served for over 17 years across progressively senior HR leadership roles.
Prior to moving into HR leadership, Vats built valuable commercial experience in the pharmaceutical industry. He worked as regional manager at Dr Reddy’s Laboratories for over a year, area manager at Novartis for nearly six years, and began his career as a marketing executive at Cipla, gaining frontline business and sales- leadership experience that continues to shape his business-focused HR approach.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta), Vats holds an MBA in Human Resources.
