Cognizant plans to give its employees, up to associate-level, in India and the Philippines, a 25 per cent increment in base pay for the month of April. The organisation wishes to reward its employees for their heroic continuity of service amidst the pandemic.
The American multinational IT company has over 2, 03, 700 employees in India, and this move is expected to benefit over 1, 30,000 employees of them.
Brian Humphries, CEO, Cognizant, sent a note to all employees saying that the additional amount will be processed with their April pay cheques, subject to monthly review thereafter.
Humphries went on to say that the pandemic is a big shock to the world and has had major impact on both the demand and supply fronts of the business. Yet, he thanked his employees for their daily acts of heroic leadership and for carrying on work with empathy, initiative, integrity and courage.
The Company has enabled offshore-delivery teams to work remotely and has been providing necessary infrastructure, such as laptops, encrypted desktops and moving them into new accommodations from where they can work without any hassle.
To maintain the continuity of service for customers, Cognizant has also provided additional bandwidth connectivity and has implemented necessary security protocols to secure client permissions.
Humphries mentions that the pay increase has been provided as a tangible sign of gratitude by Cognizant. The Company is working on formalising CSR responsibility commitments to support programmes that can help people go through these difficult times.
