The festive season has arrived for the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) employees as the officials at MSRTC have announced a dearness allowance (DA) hike for the about 93,000 employees. Prior to this announcement, the employees at MSRTC were getting a DA at 12 per cent, but with this increase, now they will receive a DA hike at 17 per cent.

The officials at MSRTC also announced that the employees will receive their enhanced DA with their October salary, which will be credited to them on the November 1. Usually, employees at MSRTC receive their salaries on the seventh day of each month.

Moreover, to make their Diwali more cheerful, MSRTC officials have also announced a separate bonus which they have termed ‘Diwali Bhet’. The employees and officers will be getting Rs 2,500 and Rs 5000 as bonus, respectively, over and above their enhanced DA hike.

Very recently, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan also announced an increase in their DA for state government employees. Madhya Pradesh gave an eight per cent hike in DA making it 20 per cent from 12 per cent and Rajasthan gave a three per cent hike in DA, taking it to 31 per cent.

These consecutive moves of hiking the DA come after the Centre and union cabinet approved an order for increasing the DA of Central government employees by three per cent, taking it to 31 per cent.
